St. Pete Times comment moderation observation

I've left a fair amount of comments on stories through their website, and I think only one of them has ever made it. I know the site says they screen all comments, but does anyone know who screens them? An editor? The writer? A special "screen team?"

There's one writer in particular who I often comment on, and have never seen one make it. I've left what I've felt to be thoughtful, if challenging, comments - not just insults or some of the other barely intelligible garble I've seen on a lot of other stories ("ARGHHAMMAH MONTANA IS TEH AWESOME!1" "LEAvEZ HULKSTER B1!!").

What gives? It wouldn't surprise me with some of the other more unsavory things I've seen coming out of there if they were trying to keep certain conversations hostage, but it's certainly not what they've long stood for.

ARe you commenting on blogs or articles? I've left plenty of comments on their blogs and only had one problem (you can't say boobs on the SP Times).

Don't know so much about the comments on articles.

You are correct, I have seen my comments on articles take 4-5 DAYS to be posted and often never, onbly when they disagree with the artcile.

Gatordem - both. There seems to be some consistency with writers/types of stories and whether or not my comment posts.

Anon - exactly my point.
